Meet Bob Brenner, one of our founders and the head of manufacturing.
Bob Brenner made a career out of building everything from cabs for big rigs and cleanrooms to LiveView Technologies’ D3 Security Trailer. As one of the co-founders and current Executive Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations of LVT, he is instrumental to the design and development of our product.
Brenner was born in Arizona but grew up in Colorado and Utah. He has more than three decades of experience in manufacturing. It started with his business that manufactured cabs for Mack Trucks. Then from 1994 to 2006, Brenner worked as a production manager for DAW to build elements of cleanroom environments.
Brenner met LVT co-founder Ryan Porter while they were both working in the financial world. Together they started LVT by putting a live feed on residential construction projects as a way to market mortgages. Soon, they realized that the contractors were the ones who wanted live views of the construction sites, not the buyers. This led to a shift in the company.
In 2007 and 2008, the founders realized that they wanted a way to put cameras up without installation crews. Brenner got to work in his garage. “I didn’t put anything on paper. Rather I saw it in my head and figured it out as I went,” Brenner said. He designed and built three mobile security trailers—the predecessors to the D3 Security Trailers. As they started rolling out the new product, customers started asking for certain specifications. “If they wanted it,” Brenner said, “we would figure out a way to make it work.”
In fact, Brenner credited this mentality as the key to success. “Our willingness to give customers what they needed and asked for is what drove our growth,” he said. Soon, with the addition of the software and advanced tech, Brenner was designing remote units that could be placed anywhere imaginable, including the top of a crane. “Our goal was and is to develop a product that can be used anywhere, without the limitations of distance and infrastructure,” Brenner said. Furthermore, as new technology, like thermal cameras, became more affordable and desirable, Brenner incorporated them into LVT’s product.
As LVT has grown to include more specialties, others have brought new ideas to manufacturing and Brenner loves it. “It’s fun to see new people build on what Ryan and I started. The more minds that work on the product, the better it’s going to be,” he said. “We’re not asking people to do things we don’t and didn’t do ourselves. Instead, as they bring different experiences, they’ll make our product into something we never thought of.”
In his free time, Brenner enjoys scuba diving, skiing, and mountain biking. He and his wife have three sons and live in the mountains of Utah County.
